ENGRACIA AVILA MERWIN

President | Managing Agent

Originally from Barranquilla, Colombia, Engracia immigrated to the United States in August 2004. With a bachelor's degree in education and an associate's degree in early childhood development, Engracia has worked primarily as a Spanish translator, Spanish literature teacher and Spanish immersion teacher with top accredited schools in both Colombia and the U.S., including the Austin Eco-Bilingual School from Austin, Texas, where he served for eight years.

She has proven her worth in her teaching profession and has been sought after as the author of numerous articles on behavioral development, including in publications such as More Woman Austin.

After meeting Tony in 2014, she learned about the many challenges seniors face when transitioning to Medicare and found an opportunity to use her experience as a savvy educator to help Medicare beneficiaries work through this transition. Therefore, she formed a partnership and a partnership was born. Avila Medicare Solutions with an empathetic devotion to serving the Latino community.

Coming from strong, traditional family roots, with a compassionate heart and a strong desire to serve. Engracia spends time outside of her profession volunteering at SafePlace, a SAFE Alliance Group partner, as well as within the local homeless community of Austin, Texas. Her hobbies include theater, enjoying nature, cooking authentic Colombian food and salsa dancing.

TONY MERWIN

Chief Executive Officer

Tony, a fifth-generation Texan and nineteen-year veteran of the insurance industry, has served in a wide variety of roles and responsibilities, including sales and marketing, customer service and quality control, as well as recruiting and training.

His career in insurance began with Family Heritage Life in 2004, before entering the senior market with Great American Financial in 2006, where he worked in business development and product distribution with their life insurance and Medicare supplement products. In 2010, he began advancing his career at Precision Senior Marketing, where he served as executive director of marketing for more than a decade before starting Avila Medicare Solutions, a full-service insurance agency dedicated to helping Medicare beneficiaries with their transition to Medicare and an understanding of the many benefits and plan options.

As a respected member of the insurance community and the National Association of Benefits and Insurance Professionals (NABIP), Tony is sought after for his extensive knowledge in the Medicare field, as he appeared as an interview guest on numerous podcasts and is often found speaking at various industry events across the country.

Gabriel de Erausquin

Independent Agent

Gabriel de Erausquin was born in 2001, the son of parents from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and grew up in a bilingual home, where he spoke Spanish at home. He moved to Tampa, Florida, at age 8, and then to Texas at 16, where he has resided ever since.

Gabriel attended Oratory Athenaeum For University Prep in Texas, where he played on the varsity soccer team and participated in several dual enrollment and AP classes. He briefly attended the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) before transitioning to a career in insurance, earning his licenses in both Life & Health and Property & Casualty.

In 2024, Gabriel joined Avila Medicare Solutions, where he is driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact on the lives of older adults across the country. He brings key skills in empathy and problem solving to his work, ensuring he meets the unique needs of his clients.

SOFIA CARREON

Independent Agent

Sofía creció en Laredo, Texas, en una familia mexicana donde el español era el idioma principal en casa. Aprendió inglés en la escuela, lo que le permitió desenvolverse con facilidad en ambos idiomas. Desde pequeña, Sofía aprendió el valor de la familia, la comunidad y el apoyo mutuo, principios que siempre guiarían su vida y su carrera.

En 2019, Sofía se mudó a Austin en busca de nuevas oportunidades y para comenzar una nueva etapa. Con un interés creciente por el sector de la salud, decidió convertirse en agente de seguros. En 2024, alcanzó su meta y se certificó como agente, especializándose en Medicare. Gracias a su habilidad para hablar español, Sofía ha podido atender a la comunidad hispana, especialmente a los adultos mayores, ayudándolos a comprender sus opciones de seguro y brindándoles el apoyo necesario para tomar decisiones informadas.

En su tiempo libre, Sofía disfruta pasar tiempo con su familia y amigos aprovechando la naturaleza y creando recuerdos juntos. Con su enfoque cálido y su dedicación, Sofía busca hacer una diferencia positiva en la vida de sus clientes, brindándoles seguridad y tranquilidad financiera.

JESÚS ARAUJO ÁVILA

Community Manager

Jesús is passionate about digital and strategic marketing, with experience in the field. Born and raised in Sabanalarga, Atlántico, Colombia, Jesús discovered his love for the digital world at an early age with the edition and realization of graphic and audiovisual pieces. 

He is a self-starter who takes an empirical approach to developing customized strategies to improve user engagement and identify opportunities to solve challenges in brand promotion. In addition to his expertise, he is also passionate about continuing education and is always looking to learn and improve his skills to stay on the cutting edge of the industry. 

He currently resides in the city of Bogota, Colombia, and outside of work he enjoys music, sharing with friends and discovering new travel experiences. He is a friendly, energetic and enthusiastic individual who is always willing to share his knowledge and experience with others. Because of his commitment and dedication to keep himself updated, he continues to feed his knowledge in the Marketing Strategies and Digital Channels diploma program at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota.

CESAR ARAUJO AVILA

Office Assistant/Call Center Agent.

Born in the city of Sabanalarga, Atlántico, Colombia. Cesar is an experienced professional in the field of Customer Service and a highly trained call center agent.  

In his role as a call center agent, Cesar is known for his warm and welcoming approach, as well as his ability to communicate clearly with customers.

He uses his expertise to advise clients on different health insurance plans and helps them understand the coverage options available, providing exceptional service on every call. 

Outside of work, Cesar enjoys spending time with his family and sports activities. He is a friendly and honest person, which is reflected in his approach with clients.  

JULIANA VERGARA CASTRO

Customer Service Specialist

Juliana, in love with her vocation, originally from Sabanalarga/Atlántico Colombia, has 5 years of experience in the field of customer service, providing quality service and accurate information for the comfort and confidence of its customers.

His charismatic and empathetic personality allows him to easily connect with people, effectively resolving their doubts and concerns.

Outside of her work, she enjoys her family, good music and quiet spaces. She is an honest, respectful, kind and helpful woman, which is why she performs so well in her area.
