Clinical Research Studies

The Medicare Part B (health insurance) covers some costs such as office visits and testing in certain qualified clinical research studies.

What is it?

Clinical research studies or clinical trials evaluate how well different types of medical care work and whether they are safe, such as how well a cancer drug works. Clinical research studies may include diagnostic tests, surgical treatments, drugs, or new types of patient care. What can:

  • Study the extent to which new treatments and tests benefit patients.
  • Compare different treatments for the same condition to see which is best.
  • Study new ways of using existing treatments.

What Are My Costs?

Depending on the treatment you receive, you may pay 20% of the Medicare-approved deductible and Part B deductible.
