In most cases, it depends on whether the person is receiving Social Security benefits, currently receiving Social Security income or Railroad Retirement benefits for at least four months before their 65th birthday. If so, the Social Security office will automatically enroll you in Medicare Parts A and B and you will receive your red, white and blue Medicare card three months before your birthday month. However, if you live in Puerto Rico, you will be automatically enrolled in Part A and must complete an application for Part B, which you can find on the <a href=\"https:\/\/es.medicare.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">web page<\/a> Medicare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may also contact one of our agents at Avila Medicare Solutions to obtain a copy. Your Medicare benefits will begin on the first day of the month in which you turn 65, but if your birthday is the first of the month, your Medicare benefits will begin on the first of the previous month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, if you are not receiving Social Security income or Railroad Retirement benefits, you must enroll in Medicare manually, either by calling the Social Security Administration toll-free at <strong><a href=\"tel:1-800-772-1213\">1-800-772-1213<\/a><\/strong> or through one of their local offices, but if you are internet savvy, you can register online at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ssa.gov\">www.ssa.gov<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need help enrolling, you can also contact one of our agents at Avila Medicare Solutions for free assistance. You will be able to complete your enrollment <strong>not before 90 days<\/strong> of the eligibility date, which is usually the first day of the month in which you reach age 65.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are the most common cases for qualifying for and enrolling in Medicare. However, if you have certain disabilities, you may also qualify for automatic enrollment.
