Medicare Supplement Plan A

The Plan A Supplemental of Medicarealso known as the Plan A of the Medigap policyis one of the many Medicare supplement plans available to Medicare beneficiaries who are enrolled in Original Medicare Parts A and B.

This is the plan more basic of all Medicare Supplement plans, and although it is not generally a popular choice among seniors, all insurance companies that work with Medicare Supplement must offer it in all states where they do business.

The first benefit of Medicare supplemental plan A is its hospital insurance. This plan covers the 100% of your inpatient hospitalization insurance after the deductible covered by Original Medicare Part A has been met.

The second benefit of this plan is the Part B insurance. Plan A covers the 100% of your Part B insurance after the deductible under this part has been met. It is similar to hospital coverage under part a where you also have a deductible for medical coverage.

And these are basically the two main benefits of Medicare Supplement Plan A: Part A and Part B insurance. This plan also covers your Medicare co-payment and insurance for Part A and Part B. hospice care.

If you have met the Medicare requirements, including a physician's certification of your terminal illness, Plan A will ultimately cover the three first pints of blood during any hospitalization for a medical procedure.

So, now that we know what plan A covers, let's take a look at the benefits it provides. does not cover.

It has already been mentioned that it does not cover deductible from parts A and B. It also does not cover the co-payment of skilled nursing facilities. Medicare covers 100% for the first 20 days you are referred to a skilled nursing facility, but from days 21 through 100 you will have to pay a copayment per day and Plan A does not cover that. And if you are one of those people who likes to travel, Plan A does not cover you. emergencies abroadWhile other Medicare Supplement plans do cover you if something happens to you when you travel out of the country, the Medicare Supplement plans do cover you if something happens to you when you travel out of the country.

Lastly, Plan A does not cover you for the excess surcharges Part B. Excess surcharges are generally uncommon and are not allowed in some States, but in some areas some providers may charge you excess surcharges of not more than 15% over what Medicare considers usual and customary for outpatient services.

As you can see, while this plan includes a couple of good benefits, there are other benefits that are not included in Medigap Plan A; and while this plan is readily available from any insurance company, if you are looking for more cost-saving benefits, you should consider a more comprehensive plan.
